BA (Economics), Georgetown University (2008)

I joined Miller Buckfire in July 2008 after graduating from Georgetown University.  Having attended college in Washington, DC, I completed two government internships before I discovered I was interested in finance.  I began pursuing investment banking internships for the summer before my senior year of college and learned of Miller Buckfire in the process.  I first became interested in the firm due to the uniqueness of its restructuring practice within the investment banking arena.  Through interviews with several bankers, I realized I wanted to work at Miller Buckfire after discovering its collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.  I joined the firm for a summer internship and, after a challenging and exciting summer, decided to return to Miller Buckfire the following year as a first year analyst.

To date, I have been very satisfied with my experience at Miller Buckfire.  I have had the opportunity to work on two large corporate restructurings: General Growth Properties, Inc. and The Reader’s Digest Association.  Through my role on these engagements, I have developed my analytical skills, understanding of the capital markets and overall financial knowledge.  I have also been given the opportunity to step outside the analyst role and assume additional responsibilities that have broadened my experience.  Finally, I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of client and other professional interaction I have had, as well as the emphasis that is placed on having junior resources involved in the restructuring process as a whole.  Overall, I am enjoying my experience at Miller Buckfire as I find every day presents a new challenge and opportunity to learn.
