I joined Miller Buckfire in July 2007 after graduating from the Wharton School. Having worked in the consumer finance industry prior to business school, I went to Wharton with the intention of making the transition to a career in investment banking.
After spending my summer internship at a bulge bracket bank and learning about the different career paths available as an investment banker, I realized that I was most interested in a career as a restructuring banker. I was attracted to Miller Buckfire by its reputation in the restructuring industry as well as its unique culture and entrepreneurial spirit. I felt that the overall size of the firm and its reliance on small deal teams would provide me with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution on a daily basis.
Thus far, I have truly enjoyed my experience at Miller Buckfire. Through significant exposure to senior bankers and a wide variety of client situations, I have been able to develop my financial and analytical skills as a restructuring investment banker. In addition, as I have gained more experience, I have been given increased responsibility to lead various aspects of client engagements. Perhaps most importantly, my experience has been quite fulfilling as helping companies recover from financial distress has been a rewarding experience.
Overall, I am enjoying my time at Miller Buckfire. Its collegial and entrepreneurial culture presents an ideal environment for learning and growing as a restructuring professional.
