Prior to joining Goldman, Sachs & Co., Mr. Shiffman was a banker covering retail companies with Salomon Brothers Inc.

While at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Shiffman advised key clients on financing, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures in the retail and consumer sector. Among his clients were Asbury Automotive Group, Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., Dollar Tree, Inc., J. Crew Group, Inc., Liz Claiborne, Inc., L.L. "We are delighted to welcome David to Miller Buckfire," said Henry S. Miller, Managing Director, Chairman and Co-Founder of Miller Buckfire. "He will play a significant leadership role as we continue to build out our existing financial advisory practice, particularly with regard to mandates in the retail and consumer products sectors. David exemplifies the caliber of the individuals who serve our clients across all our practice groups."

"Our clients are facing unprecedented challenges as economic conditions deteriorate," said Ken Buckfire, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Miller Buckfire. "Rising unemployment and declining disposable incomes create difficult conditions for many retailers and consumer products companies. David's sophisticated understanding of the retailing and consumer products industries represents a valuable addition to Miller Buckfire's core competency as we assist clients that need to enhance liquidity and manage complex capital structures."

Mr. Shiffman earned his MBA in Accounting and Finance from Columbia Business School in 1994 and a BA in Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989.

"I am thrilled to be joining Miller Buckfire, the premier boutique investment bank and restructuring firm," said Mr. Shiffman. "My background working with companies throughout their business life cycles and in all market conditions has provided me with a deep skill set which will enhance the Firm's advisory practice. It is an exciting opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals."

Mr. Shiffman is the second senior banker to join Miller Buckfire's strategic advisory practice group in recent months. In late 2008, John Orem, Managing Director, joined the Firm as a senior member of the advisory group after more than 20 years at Morgan Stanley where he advised clients in the gaming, lodging and real estate industries among other sectors, most recently as head of the global gaming corporate finance business.
