Lloyd Sprung is a Managing Director of Miller Buckfire. Mr. Sprung has extensive experience in leading restructuring, financing and M&A engagements across a variety of industries. Specifically, Mr. Sprung’s company side experience includes representing Gray Wireline Services, Advanstar Communications, Aveos Fleet Performance, Interstate Bakeries Corporation, Neff Corporation, Gate Gourmet, Applied Extrusion Technologies, Independence Air, Women First HealthCare, Pegasus Satellite Communications, IMPATH Inc., Focal Communications, BakerCorp. and National Airlines. Mr. Sprung has also represented creditor and equity constituents in various restructuring transactions including Idearc, Tronox, Ion Media Networks, Delta Air Lines, SLI Inc., SpectraSite Holdings, and Pabst Brewing. In addition to his client advisory work, Mr. Sprung is responsible for coordinating Miller Buckfire’s private finance activities on behalf of its clients, assisting the firms’ deal teams in raising new debt or equity capital. His financing experience includes transactions for Walker Group, Bristol Compressors International, Sonneborn, Inc., Crown Cork and Seal, Oxford Automotive and Spiegel/Eddie Bauer.
Mr. Sprung is a former member of the financial restructuring group of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, which he joined in 2001. Prior to joining Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, he structured, originated and traded debt derivatives and distressed commercial real estate products at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. from 1992 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2000. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Sprung was also involved in numerous bond and leveraged loan financing transactions for global originators and investors.
Mr. Sprung is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association and is a frequent lecturer on restructuring topics. Mr. Sprung is the recipient of TMA's 2009 Large Company Transaction of the Year Award and M&A Advisor’s 2010 Turnaround of the Year Award for his work on the restructuring of Interstate Bakeries Corporation.
Mr. Sprung has an M.B.A. (with high distinction) from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar and a B.A. in economics (summa cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania.
